80's electronic music pioneers
Depeche Mode
postponed their current tour after it was
revealed this week that lead singer, David Gahan,
underwent surgery to
remove a tumor.
Sounds like David's own "personal
Jesus" helped him "shake
the disease", which turned out to be
a cancerous tumor on his bladder. For those fans
who "just
can't get enough" of Depeche Mode,
the band hopes to "never
let them down again" once their
summer tour
resumes on June 8 in Germany.
Cheap
Trick
have removed a cancerous tumor as well - their
record label! The band's new album, titled "The
Latest", will be
sold exclusively
through the band's website and Amazon.com. Sure,
the record label world may think "aint
that a shame", but the band still "wants
you to want them" as they hit the
road this summer with
Def
Leppard
and
Poison.
While that pairing may "just
seem a little weird", there are
many 80's and 90's
bands "surrendering"
to the package tour. And why not? With the
current recession, you can
still have "nothing
but a good time" seeing more bands at
an affordable price.
This summer look for shows featuring
Aerosmith
and
ZZ Top,
Eric
Clapton
with
Steve Winwood,
and another edition of the
Re-generation tour
featuring
ABC
along with
Wang
Chung,
Berlin,
Missing Persons
and
Cutting Crew.
You know "the
times they are a changin" when
John Mellenamp
is touring with
Nelson
and
Bob
Dylan!
I'd be up for a little "summer tour surgery" to
remove Nelson and that guy who sings like he's "knockin'
on heaven's door" so I could
enjoy John Mellencamp on a "lonely
ol' night".
That's
it for Retro News. I'm Jenni Waylon for Retro
Rewind.
