In the 1980's
Rick Springfield
sang "don't
talk to strangers", but
didn't say anything about not showing
them your butt! Rick's female fans will
"get
excited" to learn he's
baring
his "human
tush" in an upcoming episode
of Showtime's "Californication". He'll
play a washed-up movie star looking to
get his career back on track.
Which is exactly what the band
Aerosmith
are trying to do. Guitarist
Joe Perry
hoped fans wouldn't "miss
a thing" on this summers tour
with ZZ Top. But now he's
angry
while waiting for singer
Steven Tyler
to get "back
in the saddle". In August,
the band canceled their North American
tour after Tyler broke his shoulder,
falling sideways off the stage during a
performance. It's been the "same
ol song and dance" for other
guys in the band too. Just within the
past few months, guitarists
Brad Whitford
and
Tom Hamilton
required
surgeries
that also postponed touring. Is it just
me or do these "Dudes
sound like old ladies"?
Getting old isn't easy, though, just ask
Phil Collins
of
Genesis.
We already knew he "can't
dance", but Collins recently
announced he "can't
drum" either. This comes
after a neck operation that has affected
his hands so he can't hold drumsticks
properly or even play the piano. This
could make a Genesis reunion with
Peter Gabriel
"against
all odds" as the band are
currently on the
ballot
for next year's induction into the Rock
and Roll Hall Of Fame.
Bands become eligible for the Hall of
Fame 25 years after their debut album is
released. You know, it's too bad that it
doesn't help Rick Springfield in any
way. It's been 25 years since his "bum"
made it's debut the 1984 movie, "Hard
To Hold". And
now that Rick is 60, let's just hope his
rear isn't too "hard to behold".
That's it for Retro News I'm Jenni Waylon
for Retro Rewind.
