This week we lost an 80's pop culture icon
with the
passing of
Captain Lou Albano
at age 76 from natural causes. You may
remember Lou as a professional wrestler or
that big guy who played Cyndi Laupers'
overbearing father "time
after time" in some of her
classic music videos.
Albano's career rocketed to superstardom
once he crossed over to music video and now
Cyndi Lauper
is hoping for more success by stretching out
into television projects. This year Lauper
played a
psychic on
the season opener of Fox's TV series "Bones"
and will
soon appear
alongside Poison's Brett Michaels and
comedian Sinbad on Celebrity Apprentice 3,
that's where stars always wind up showing us
their "true
colors".
Just like the guy who's
selling 12
burnt hairs from
Michael Jackson's
head! Turns out the executive producer of
that 1984 Pepsi commercial gone wrong not
only helped put out the fire that severely
burned the King of Pop, but he "didn't
stop 'till he collected enough"
singed hairs to resell at just the right
time. The hair has doubled in value since
Jackson's death and is expected to sell this
weekend for around $1700.
You have to wonder what Jacko would think
about all this "off
the wall" behavior? This would
include being
nominated
for no less than 5 American Music Awards,
including Artist Of The Year. This is a year
where he didn't release any new music or
even go on tour.
You know, Michael has a good chance of
winning that "prize". But at least he'll win
based on the positive
changes
he's already made to pop music and not on
the hopeful promise of what's to come.
That's it for Retro News I'm Jenni Waylon
for Retro Rewind.
